My Journey with the Y.E.S. Project
December 2009: John signed for his tenancy and the Y.E.S. Project helped him to a Community Care Grant (CCG) assisted with benefits, budgeting, set up utility bills, applied to United Utilities to reduce his debt and applied to Create and Frank Buttle for white goods. John also had health issues as he was suffering with mild depression and was not using his medication correctly. WE supported John to better manage his mental health.
January 2010: Whilst supporting John with his tenancy we identified through his needs/risks assessment he was interested in getting back into work. We then put a support plan in place in order to achieve this outcome and arranged for John to apply for his security licence through A4E. John was awarded £200.00 from the Family Action Fund for flooring, £150.00 from United Utilities to clear his water charge arrears and received a CCG for £310.44.
February 2010: By this time John has settled and has a full furniture package was managing his new tenancy effectively. We discussed with John to apply for the Future Jobs so that he could get experience of security work. We then assisted John with his work placement and arranged an interview through the Future Job placement.
March 2010: John attended an induction at Centre 63, and courses in First Aid, Health and Safety and a True Colour’s workshop. John was accepted and he started his placement on Community Champion working 25 hours per week for 6 months. John signed of his benefits and is managing to pay his rent and bills every week.
April 2010: John receives his Security badge (SIA) and uniform from Provsec Security Limited. He is also awarded a bike to travel to work for 6 months from Mersey travel. Whilst John is in employment we have developed a budget plan, set up a credit union account for John to start saving £20 per month and supported John to apply for his provisional license.
